CARE4C
Carbon smart forestry under climate change
The
project CARE4C focuses at researching CO2
sequestration by forest growth at cell, organ, and forest stand level
and at estimating CO2 emissions from forest operations
including all activities from tree felling to material transportation
towards a processing facility. By including
risk management CARE4C strives to
develp carbon smart forest management strategies.
Objectives of CARE4C
- Analyse, quantify and model the carbon sink resulting from forest
growth
- Analyse, quantify an model the carbon source by forest operations
and risks caused by biotic and abiotic factors
- Combine the sink and source aspects to an integrated picture and
balance of the whole
- Publish and teach our results and new concept of a carbon smart
forestry to enhance knowledge and sikkls at individual and
organizational level
- Disseminate
achievements and communicate the project to forest science, forest
practice, general public and policy makers at local, regional, national
and EU level to foster a lower-carbon emitting society
